Hello, my name is Olivia Girolami. I returned to school later in life to fulfill the goal of being of service in the mental health field. I have spent many years exploring my own mental health, along with meditation, and various other volunteer and retreat-style learning, all of which has altered my perspectives and changed my life profoundly.
Who do I work with & what can I help with? I work with clients ranging from late teens to seniors and support individuals with a variety of challenges. Some of these include anxiety, depression, grief and bereavement, substance use challenges, low self-esteem, life and employment transitions, and relational difficulties. We would work together to help you develop new coping skills, overcome challenges, strengthen existing abilities, and explore possibilities.
My Therapeutic Approach I offer a safe and compassionate space for you to express yourself fully and freely toward self-discovery and personal growth. Everyone has individual preferences and needs, and I find that a collaborative and integrated approach to be beneficial to the process. I believe in compassionate learning, and I include cognitive behavioural, acceptance and commitment, internal family systems, emotion-focused, mindfulness, somatic, and creative expression models. Training I have completed my Master’s in Counselling Psychology through Yorkville University.
What else should you know? I believe we all have the power to change, to learn new ways of being, and the ability to become fully alive in our lives.
